Joe Pisano is an award-winning artist, U.S. Naval Reserves Chief Petty Officer and martial arts instructor. He is known for unique artistic creations that blend canvas, metal, wood and paint into three dimensional tributes to the sacrifice, duty and honor of our military servicemembers and veterans. Working with the Resurrecting Lives Foundation, Joe helps raise awareness for and bring healing to veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injuries and PTSD.
In 2018, Joe began creating art in his unique style with the “Stand Together- A Veterans’ Flag.” This canvas based sculptured depicts an American flag waving in the wind, and pays tribute servicemembers and veterans of all military branches. The flag is comprised of over 4,300 drywall screws, and currently has over 500 signatures of World War I to The Global War on Terrorism veterans and their family members.
Joe’s most current artistic tribute, “The Art of Immortalizing Heroes,” is comprised of seven panels depicting World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam Conflict, The Global War on Terrorism, unsung heroes, funeral honors, and a corrugated Wall highlighting the Freedom Wall and Vietnam Memorial Wall. This multi-panel sculpture was created using more than 100,000 dry wall screws, one thousand dog tags and 3,800 wooden stars. More than 2,000 servicemembers and veterans as well as 1,500 children, special needs adults and community members participated in the creation of this artwork.
Joe’s studio in located in San Diego, CA and his artwork is currently on display at the Arts District Liberty Station in San Diego. His art has been featured on the USS MIDWAY, Veteran’s Memorial Museum, Hero’s Hall Museum and several other selected venues.
